In August 2021, Nadine Jarmon was fired by the Little Rock housing authority's board of commissioners after attempting to blow the whistle on commissioners' alleged misconduct and mismanagement.
Nearly three years later, circumstances have changed, and Jarmon is poised to return as executive director of the Metropolitan Housing Alliance.
The commissioners who decided to terminate her are gone, with two having been expelled by the Little Rock Board of Directors last year.
The housing authority's reconstituted board on Tuesday voted 4-1 to extend a conditional offer of employment to Jarmon.
Ericka Benedicto, who became interim executive director shortly after Jarmon's firing in 2021 and later was given the job on a permanent basis, resigned in March.
Jarmon told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Tuesday afternoon that she was "flattered and overjoyed" that the board would even consider having her return. She added that she was anxious to review the details.
The local prosecuting attorney has declined to file charges in connection to the fatal shooting of Bryan Malinowski, the former executive director of the Little Rock airport.
An agent of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was justified in using deadly force when the agent shot Malinowski after agents breached the front door of Malinowski's home just after 6 a.m. on March 19, 6th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Will Jones wrote in a letter issued Friday.
According to a timeline contained in the letter, the sequence of events that started when a Little Rock police officer activated his vehicle's lights and siren outside the home to the moment Malinowski was shot happened in fewer than 60 seconds.
The 53-year-old airport official reportedly fired on the agents first, striking one in the foot.
