Good afternoon.
Bryan Malinowski, the executive director of Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport/Adams Field, died last Thursday, two days after he was shot when federal agents were attempting to execute a search warrant at his home.
Here is the latest on the case.
According to unsealed court records tied to the search, Malinowski was under investigation for alleged violations of dealing in firearms without a license and unlawful acquisition of a firearm.
An affidavit in support of the search warrant claimed Malinowski had purchased over 150 firearms since 2021, with six recovered in connection to a crime and three through undercover purchases by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
In a statement, Malinowski's family said, "Even if the allegations in the affidavit are true, they donât begin to justify what happened. At worst, Bryan Malinowski, a gun owner and gun enthusiast, stood accused of making private firearm sales to a person who may not have been legally entitled to purchase the guns.â
Malinowski, 53, had led the airport since 2019.
The board of commissioners of the Metropolitan Housing Alliance met with a full slate of five members last week for the first time since September.
Last year, the board's chair and vice chair were ousted by the Little Rock Board of Directors. Two other members departed around the same time.
The reconstituted board now consists of Kerry Wright (chair), Karen Buchanan (vice chair), Bruce James, Stacie Brown and Monty Baugh.
During the meeting last Thursday, the board voted to appoint three people to the board of the housing authority's affiliated nonprofit, including Baker Kurrus, who ran for mayor of Little Rock in 2018.
That's all for this week. Some more local stories are below.
