Meet Superintendent Larry Snelling

Larry Snelling
Larry Snelling, a Chicago native, assumed office as the 64th Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department in September 2023. With 30 years of CPD experience, his priorities center on fostering community trust and enhancing the wellness of CPD members for optimal service to the city. Previously, Snelling served as Chief of the Bureau of Counterterrorism, overseeing long-term investigations on gangs and narcotics, and managing specialized units such as SWAT, the Marine Unit, the Mounted Unit, and the Bomb Squad.
