Mark Twain once said, “Buy land, they’re not making it anymore.” It’s a perspective that highlights the preciousness of land, particularly in Miami-Dade County, which spans nearly 1,900 square miles. Despite the seemingly endless expanse of undeveloped land, some local politicians are treating it as an inexhaustible resource, often prioritizing private interests over public needs.
A historical example underscores this issue. Leaders across Miami-Dade make headway on community-driven, health-equity action plan to address nutrition security both comprehensively and sustainably. Recent research by the American Heart Association finds inequities in Miami-Dade related to nutrition security to be too prevalent over the past four years. 
The initiative’s main goal is to reduce food insecurity and malnutrition in Miami Dade County. Specific objectives include:

With the August 20th Primary Election quickly approaching, voters are encouraged to review their customized sample ballot before heading to the polls. There are federal, state, county and municipal candidates in addition to a minimum of two questions for all voters.
All voters in Miami-Dade County can expect a one-page ballot. Miami-Dade County is election ready, and voters can be too by preparing in advance.

I’m excited to announce that the FWC has been awarded three Exempted Fishing Permits to conduct three unique studies.
