Court was not in session Monday, but expect former President Donald Trump’s trial to continue Tuesday, with Gary Farro returning to the stand.Â
Farro, who took the stand Friday afternoon as the People’s third witness, is the former banker of ex-Trump attorney Michael Cohen. Farro previously worked at the now-defunct First Republic Bank, where Cohen established the account that he would use to pay adult film actress Stormy Daniels.Â
At the center of the case is the $130,000 hush money payment made to Daniels before the 2016 election. Prosecutors argue that it is part of the “conspiracy” Trump’s 2016 campaign orchestrated to influence the election.Â
So far, Farro has reviewed banking regulations. On Friday, he told the court that certain transactions, like wires, account openings, and those involving a political candidate, require more reviews. He also said that there were transactions that the bank did not process at all, including those involving adult entertainment.
Court snapshot: Court is out today, but prosecutors are hoping to show the judge that Trump's remarks on the other side of the court doors could get him into trouble. Judge Juan Merchan is holding another hearing on four new alleged gag violations on Thursday. Merchan has yet to rule on the first ten alleged gag order violations.
