Super Bowl buzz: Taylor's boyfriend wins, Beyonce' breaks the internet and more

By H. Alan Scott

Apparently, Taylor Swift's boyfriend won the Super Bowl or something. I honestly wouldn't know because I was too preoccupied with all the superstars in the room. Oh, and that halftime show a.k.a. the 15 minutes Usher decided to take his shirt off and show us all how it's done. And Beyoncé broke the internet again. Like, what even happened last night? Let's get into it.

There was a lot of A-list talent at the Super Bowl last night to watch the Kansas City Chiefs take home the gold or whatever they take home when they win. Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Jay Z, Paul McCartney, Paul Rudd, Kim Kardashian, Blake Lively, and Justin Bieber were just some of the celebrities in attendance. With this level of talent in the room, if you got bored of the game, you could just look around to see a superstar.

And the stars weren't just in the stadium suites for VIPs. They were also on the field. During Usher's 15-minute halftime show, he performed alongside Alicia Keys, H.E.R, will.i.am, and Ludacris. But the real showstopper was Usher, who did everything: danced, roller skated (yes, he performed on roller skates like it was a 1982 birthday party at the roller rink) and took his shirt off. I wasn't sure what to expect from his performance, but I left impressed... and oddly hot.

Beyoncé sent social media into a tizzy with her Verizon commercial (Watch it here), ending with a surprise drop. This was not a drill. Her two new singles, "TEXAS HOLD 'EM" and "16 Carriages," hint at a country album. Fans even think she was giving a nod to Dolly Parton. Here's why.

The country-inspired tunes remind all that Queen Bey is a Texas bama. Remember "Daddy Lessons?" She's Beyoncé. She can do anything. (I also like to think her dropping it during the Super Bowl was her way of being like, 'Don't forget I did the halftime show before, thank you very much.')

Another moment that sent the interwebs crazy was the first look at part one of the new film Wicked, based on the Broadway musical. The highly anticipated film stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. I'll be real, it looks... fine. (I just can't seem to get past Grande as a blonde. It just doesn't work for me.)

What was your favorite moment of the night? Let me, know. I'm HAlanScott on everything.

Usher Smashes Super Bowl Halftime Show

By Billie Schwab Dunn

Usher was the headliner for the Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime show—and he didn't disappoint. He told Newsweek about it afterward.

Dressed in all-white, he opened the show with a short excerpt of his song "Caught Up" followed by "U Don't Have To Call" and his hit "Love In This Club." He was later joined by rappers Lil Jon and Ludacris for a rendition of their smash 2004 single "Yeah!"

Usher also brought out the likes of Alicia Keys and the musician H.E.R, who impressed the crowd with a guitar solo, to help him on stage—and people on X, formerly Twitter, loved every second of it.

Usher told Newsweek in a statement that he is glad the performance went down so well with viewers. However, not everybody loved his performance.

Super Bowl 'Rigged' Rumors Take Internet By Storm After Chiefs Win

By Ryan Smith

Many detractors have baselessly claimed that Super Bowl LVIII was "rigged," following the Kansas City Chiefs victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

The Chiefs squeezed a 25-22 win in overtime over the San Francisco 49ers at Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium on Sunday following a nail-biting game. The win secured back-to-back Super Bowl victories for the Chiefs.

However, as fans celebrated the win, it also sparked ire among several social media users who believed that the game was somehow scripted in the Chiefs' favor.

Here's why they thought that.
