Q: How would you describe your design sensibility?
A: When I’m designing a space, it has to have a strong narrative. Every room must tell a story and I take cues from a clients lifestyle as well as the architecture that the space is within. I’m always layering beautiful textures and patterns-creating a lot of interest.
Q: What is inspiring you right now?
A: Currently I am drawing a lot of inspiration from the past and loving antiques. I think antiques are making a huge comeback.
Q: How has your upbringing influenced your design practice?
A: I grew up in Maine and attribute my love for blending modern with traditional style to my childhood home. Our house was a mix between my father’s appreciation for antiques and my mother’s love for all things au courant. It was filled with a plethora of family heirlooms and I loved digging through these treasures and uncovering what had been collected over time. All of that influenced my passion for antiquing and sourcing décor for my design projects.
Q: Your approach to design marries elegant historical references with sophisticated modernism. What is an example of how you achieve this?
A: I loves to create juxtaposition with antiques, patterns, and textiles by blending different time periods together. I feel that this is what makes a space compelling and gives it “soul”.
