When I make a batch of jar meals, I fill a quart-size jar with shelf stable ingredients, seal it with an oxygen absorber, and repeat at least 11 more times. That way I will have a dozen jars of that particular recipe on my shelf. When I need one, I just pull it off the shelf, dump it into a pot, add water, and heat it up.

I like to keep them in case of emergency, like power outages or worse, but they also come in handy when my family needs a quick meal.
