📦 Why Fabalish Is Bullish on Alternative Retail Channels

A delisting can be downright devastating for any brand, but for Fabalish, it prompted a push in a more profitable direction. Several months ago, the brand’s vegan condiments were dropped at Sprouts Farmers Market. The company decided to take a pause from traditional retail and forge further into alternative channels like online grocery and meal delivery, where it had already established a strong foothold.

🐔 Avian Flu Updates: 4 Million Infected Chickens to be Killed in Iowa, Virus Detected in Beef Tissue of Dairy Cow

Months after its initial detection, the highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) outbreak is continuing to wreak havoc on egg-laying chickens and dairy cows. On Tuesday, a case of bird flu was detected among a massive flock in Sioux County, Iowa, and, as a result, the 4.2 million infected birds will be killed

🥚 CPG giant Post Holdings yesterday reported that Michael Foods’ third-party contracted egg-laying flocks in Minnesota and Iowa tested positive for avian flu. According to the announcement, the facilities house roughly 5.7 million egg-laying hens, or approximately 14% of Post’s controlled supply.

🐮 Late last week, beef tissue from an infected dairy cow tested positive for bird flu, as reported by NYT. The sick cow had already been condemned to be culled and the meat did not enter the U.S. Food Supply.

👀 To date, H5N1 has only been detected in dairy cattle and not in beef cattle that are raised for meat. There are now at least 58 affected dairy herds across nine states.
