Hello friends!
We’ve been spending our summer reveling in kids camps, out-of-town guests, and wondering how we are going to pack as many adventures into our remaining sunny days as possible. With all of this fun in the sun comes loads of culinary inspiration, and we are thrilled to announce our next Family Dinner series. This September and October the talented Nadia Tommalieh and our dinners team will present Azoumeh: An Arab Family Feast. Azoumeh is a traditional Arab communal feast filled with shared dishes, vibrant flavors, and warm hospitality. They are typically served family-style, encouraging friends and family to share and savor each dish.

We’re also excited to announce our October and September Cookbook Club Potluck Supper selections. On September 15th join us for our featured book Mother Tongue written by Gurdeep Loyal and on October 13th we’ll get ready to celebrate Dios De Los Muertos by cooking from Coco written by the Pantry’s own Gino Garcia. You’ll cook a recipe from the book and bring enough to share, and we’ll host the gathering and pour the wine (and do the dishes!).
Darin of Valley Sharp will be in house on September 20th for his monthly knife sharpening service — learn how to sign up on our website! And once again we are holding our yearly school supplies drive for WA-BLOC which is happening through the end of August! The community need has never been greater, and we appreciate you helping kids have what they need to thrive in school. Thank you all for being a part of our community — we look forward to cooking with you!
And finally, on the crafty side — this past March, we held our first Woolcraft retreat on San Juan Island. Spending four days learning about spinning, dyeing, knitting, and weaving among new friends made us crave a full-time space where we can practice textile arts in community with other makers. We are exploring a new concept: a collaborative fiber arts studio in Ballard, just around the corner from the Pantry, and are seeking feedback from the knitters, spinners, and weavers in our community. If your interest is piqued, please help us plan our new adventure by taking this 5-minute survey. Thank you!
We look forward to seeing you at our table!
