In this week’s edition of Strategist Brain, beauty writer Tembe Denton-Hurst has been mulling over what shoes to wear when she gets married in a month. “Wedding shoes are likely to get ruined and never be worn again,” she says. She eventually found the shoes that made her feel like a bride at her trusty, wide-foot-friendly, affordable shoe source, Asos. Also on her mind: primary-colored Post-it notes for annotating books, a striped tank sweaterdress from Target, and this “velvety, milky, woody” scent from Diptyque.

Fashion writer Ambar Pardilla tried more high-waisted jeans than is good for anyone’s gut (her words, not mine) and recently made some major updates to our best-in-class list. Her favorite (splurgeworthy) super-high high-waisted jeans from Reformation are no longer a splurge at 50 percent off. She also notes that these Banana Republic girlfriend jeans are marked as “low-rise,” but the top of the jeans actually stops right at the belly button — a great intro to this style for the high-rise averse!
